The University of Kentucky women?s soccer team has announced its 2006 spring schedule which kicks off this Sunday, Feb. 19, when it hosts a 9v9 tournament at Nutter Field House.
UK, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Bellarmine, Georgetown College, U17 Ambassador Red and U17 Blast FC will make up the eight-team field of Kentucky?s 9v9 tournament on Feb. 19. The event is free and open to the public.
UK travels to Bloomington, Ind., for the 10v10 Indoor Friendlies on Feb. 25 at John Mellencamp Pavilion. The Cats will take on Indiana out of the Big Ten and Butler out of the Horizon League in that tournament, as well as the FC Dynamo ?89.
The Cats then head to Virginia Tech?s ACC/SEC Challenge in Blacksburg, Va., on Mar. 25. The Cats will take on Virginia Tech at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 2 p.m. match against Wake Forest who also advanced to the NCAA tournament qualifiers last season.
The Wildcats will host a still undetermined opponent on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Lexington before wrapping up the spring slate against a second 2005 NCAA qualifier in Illinois on Apr. 22 in Carmel, Ind. The game, which is the featured college game at the Crossroads of America Showcase hosted by Carmel United Soccer Club, is set for 7:30 p.m. at Carmel High School which is located just north of Indianapolis.
