The 13th-ranked Kentucky women’s tennis team will open the home portion of its schedule Monday against Louisville. The Cats return home after a successful opening weekend where they defeated both Richmond and Marshall.
In the team?s first two wins, many solid efforts were put forth. The 53rd-ranked Kim Coventry won both of her matches playing in the No. 1 singles spot. The Melbourne, Australia, native also teamed with junior Lara Maurer for the first time this year to record a victory against Richmond to the help the Cats claim the doubles point.
Senior Danielle Petrisko and junior Joelle Schwenk each won both of their singles matches as well on Saturday. Petrisko also teamed with junior Caroline Winebrenner to win a pair of doubles matches on the day.
Saturday also marked a successful debut for freshman Jessica Giuggioli who won both of her matches playing in the No. 6 singles spot.
Monday?s match against the Cardinals is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center. Last season the Cats scored a resounding 7-0 victory over their intrastate rival. Fans are encouraged to use the new parking structure adjacent to the Boone Tennis Stadium. Parking will cost $2.00 for the first hour, $2.00 for the second hour and then $1.00 for every hour after that with a $10.00 maximum fee to park.
