Despite sweeping both Illinois State and Southeast Missouri State last weekend at Memorial Coliseum, the Cats dropped two spots to No. 15 in the recent GymInfo Poll.

Vault Marks

UK?s 49.125 vault mark at last weekend?s tri-meet tied the seventh-best team vault score in school history.

High Mark

Freshman Heather Hite (Parkersburg, W. Va.) became just the seventh different Wildcat all-time to score a 9.9 or better on beam vs. Michigan State (1/6). According to GymInfo?s compiled rankings, Hite is one of only six (out of 400-plus) nationally to have registered a 9.9 or better on beam this season.

All-Around Talent Pt. 2

For the second consecutive week, junior Krystle Cook came away with the all-around competition title, tying fellow teammates Natalie Rubinstein at last weekend?s tri-meet. Cook also tied her career-best score with a 38.975. The Austin, Texas native ranks 15th nationally in the all-around.

Newcomer

Not only did freshman Natalie Rubinstein tied Krystle Cook for the all-around title last weekend, but she improved her scores in all four events from the season opener at Michigan State. For her efforts, Rubinstein was named UK ?Gymnast of the Week? by the coaching staff.

Scouting Auburn (2-4)

– This weekend?s meet will mark the 49th all-time meeting between Auburn and Kentucky. The series is deadlocked at 24 apiece. As of late, the Tigers have taken the front seat in the series, winning seven of the last eight meetings. Last year, the Tigers won three of four meetings vs. UK, with the only loss coming at the Master’s Classic in Lincoln, Neb.

– Auburn posted its highest score since the 2005 season opener, as the Tigers opened their home schedule with a convincing 195.300-188.125 victory over West Virginia on Jan. 13. After finishing just .575 behind meet-champion Alabama at the Super Six Challenge, the Tigers dominated the Mountaineers by claiming the top-four places in three of four events and the all-around. Individually, Julie Dwyer won three of four events and the all-around title. Dwyer won her crowns on vault, beam and floor. Dwyer’s all-around score of 39.375 tied her career high. A.J. Mills won her first event title, as she had the top score on bars with a 9.825. Mills also finished second on beam (9.850) and second in the all-around (38.950).

– Nationally, the Tigers are ranked in the top 10 on two events. As aforementioned, the Tigers are ranked No. 5 on beam and are ranked No. 7 on bars. Individually, Julie Dwyer is ranked fifth in the all-around with an average of 39.225. Dwyer is also ranked 12th on beam (9.812). The only other Tiger ranked in the top 20 is A.J. Mills, who is tied for 20th on beam with a 9.775 average. She is tied with Alabama’s Brittany Magee.
