The Kentucky swimming and diving team will return to action Saturday at home when they take on Southeastern Conference rival South Carolina at the Lancaster Aquatic Center.
The Cats are coming off a successful week where both the men and women defeated Clemson, as well as SEC foes LSU and Alabama.
The women (5-3, 3-2 SEC) received some tremendous performances last week highlighted by sophomore Jenny Bradford. The Groveport, Ohio, native captured the 50 freestyle event in all three meets including a victory over Georgia All-American Kara Lynn Joyce.
The Kentucky lady divers also put up some high scores last week and will face some of their toughest competition of the year against South Carolina. The Gamecocks feature two of conferences best performers in defending national champion Allison Brennan and former SEC champion Tracey Richardson. The Cats will counter with a pair of their own SEC champions in senior Jessica Thompson and junior Taryn Ignacio.
The 18th-ranked men (4-2, 2-2 SEC) continue to be led by returning All-American seniors Daniel Farnham and Steven Manley. Farnham has finished first in both the 50 and 100 freestyle in four of the six meets this year. Manley, a native of Dublin, Ireland, has also been a dominating force winning seven events in the last three meets.
The meet will begin tomorrow at noon EST with the diving competition and the swimming action will follow at 1 p.m.
