1/9– Junior Krystle Cook was named UK ?Gymnast of the Week? as chosen by the coaching staff. Last weekend in East Lansing Mich., Cook won the all-around competition as Kentucky defeated Michigan State 192-775-189.225 to start the season 1-0 for a second straight year. Cook won the vault competition (9.875) which helped produce an all-around tally of 38.975, giving the Austin, Texas native a new career-high. Cook also notched a third-place finish on the uneven bars (9.8). With the team victory, the Wildcats jumped up to No. 13 nationally in the recent GymInfo poll. Also mentioned in the rankings was freshman Heather Hite who recorded a 9.9 on beam vs. the Spartans, ranking her second nationally. Cook ranks fifth on vault.
