The University of Kentucky gymnastics team held its Blue-White exhibition at Memorial Coliseum Saturday evening. Fans got a formal introduction to each student-athlete while third-year head coach Mo Muhammad offered the UK faithful his expertise with a question-and-answer portion with UK Public Address Announcer Carl Nathe.
The Cats kicked off the evening with an intro of all 16 student-athletes. Fans were then treated to a vault exhibition with each Wildcat showcasing various vaults. Next, the gymnasts competed on the uneven bars, followed by balance beam and floor exercise. During each event, Coach Muhammad invited selected fans to come down and serve as judges.
Following the exhibition, the crowd was treated to an up-close introduction to the gymnasts as they met with fans and signed autographs.
The No. 23 Cats kickoff the 2006 campaign, Jan. 6, when they travel to Lansing, Mich. to take on Michigan State. The home schedule begins Jan. 14 when UK hosts its annual ?Excite Nite? at 6 p.m. Olympic gymnasts Dominique Moceanu and Sventlana Boguinskaia will be in attendance as well as former UK great and NCAA Champion Jenny Hansen.
