The Kentucky men?s tennis team will begin play in January with three players ranked in the top-25 of the Southeast Region as named by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Freshman Bruno Agostinelli will enter the spring as the squad?s highest ranked player at No. 12. The native of Niagara Falls, Canada, won the first seven matches of his career this fall on his way to leading the team with 11 victories. Agostinelli also captured the A2 Singles Flight bracket at the Middle Tennessee State Fall Invitational and reached the quarterfinals Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships.
Senior Alex Hume will enter the spring as the No. 17 in the Southeast Region after winning 10 matches in the fall. Hume entered the preseason as the 68th-ranked player the country after winning 26 matches last year.
Fellow senior Nate Emge will also begin the spring season as the No. 25 player in the Southeast Region. The Evansville, Ind., native had seven victories this fall and was the 94th-ranked player in the nation in the preseason poll.
The men?s tennis team will return to action on January 13, when the Wildcats take part in the National Tennis Collegiate Classic in Palm Springs, Calif.
