The Kentucky volleyball team closes its 2005 home schedule against Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats are enjoying their best season in more than a decade, posting a 17-10 record overall. UK finished 10-6 in Southeastern Conference play for a fifth-place finish ? its best since 1996.

Kentucky was knocked out of the 2005 SEC Tournament early, following a 3-1 loss to Arkansas on last Friday. Despite making an early exit from the tourney, Kentucky cleaned up at the conference awards banquet. Coach Craig Skinner was named the SEC Coach of the Year and libero Jenni Casper claimed her second Defensive Player of the Year award in three seasons.

Senior Danielle Wallace was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year and she also joined fellow senior Amy Kaplan on the All-SEC second team.

Cincinnati travels to Lexington with a 19-12 overall record. The Bearcats were 9-5 in Big East action and lost to No. 8 Notre Dame in the second round of the Big East Tournament last weekend. Jessie Nevitt leads the Bearcats with 3.15 kpg on .341 hitting. Her 1.39 blocks per game also are tops for UC. The Bearcats have lost four of their last five matches, including their final two home contests.

Both teams are looking for at-large bids to the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The selection show is Sunday evening. Kentucky hasn?t made it to the NCAA Tournament since 1993, but looks to return this season after tripling its number of conference wins from a year ago and knocking off many highly ranked teams in the RPI.
