Kentucky junior Julie Gagnon has been named to the Southeastern Conference Volleyball Good Works team, the league announced Wednesday. Gagnon, a defensive specialist from Wheaton, Ill., spends countless hours giving back to the community through various service efforts.

Gagnon has participated in Bingo at the UK Children?s Hospital and has served as a featured guest at the Northern Elementary Pep Rally. She serves as a mentor at both Johnson and Madison Elementary schools and took part in the American Heart Walk.

Gagnon is a regular volunteer at the Children?s Hospital and took time to volunteer in the Ron John?s Run Walk 5K race. She has twice been named to the dean?s list at Kentucky and was named Academic All-SEC in 2004.
