University of Kentucky senior midfielder Courtney McCrudden has been named to the 2005 All-Southeastern Conference First Team. McCrudden becomes the 13th Wildcat to earn First Team accolades.
McCrudden is the lone Kentucky player to earn All-SEC honors after she scored a team-high four goals in SEC contests this season. The Voorhees, N.J., native recorded nine shots on goal and had a .450 shot-on-goal percentage in SEC play. She ranks among league leaders in points (6th-17), goals (7th-6), shots on goal (7th-22), assists (9th-5) and shots (10th-44).
McCrudden was named the SEC co-Offensive Player of the Week by the league office on Sept. 26, sharing the honor with junior midfielder Ali Chrostoph of Tennessee. She recorded two of the Wildcats three goals to open SEC play, including the game-winning goal against Arkansas with 24 seconds remaining. That was the first game-winning goal of her career. She also scored the lone goal in UK’s eventual 1-1 tie to LSU in its SEC opener and added a goal against South Carolina and Florida.
McCrudden is tied with Sarah Gaunt for first on the team with six goals this season which is a new career-high for the senior forward. She also leads the team with five assists and 17 points on the year.
McCrudden and the Wildcats return to action tomorrow, Nov. 3, as they face No. 2 seed Ole Miss in the opening round of the 2005 SEC Tournament. Game time is set for 1 p.m. ET in Orange Beach, Ala.
