Juniors Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk continued their strong play by advancing to the finals of the doubles draw Sunday at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C. Coventry also won her quarterfinals singles match to reach Monday?s semifinals.

The No. 9 duo of Coventry and Schwenk began the day by defeating Duke?s Kristen Cargill and Jackie Carleton 9-8 (3) in the quarterfinals. The Wildcat doubles team then reached the finals by beating North Carolina?s Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long 8-3. The team of Coventry and Schwenk, the No. 2 seed, will face off against the tournament?s No. 1 seed Daniela Bercek and Jessi Robinson of Duke in the finals.

Coventry also won her only singles match of the day against N. C. State?s Barbara Orlay. The Australian native advanced to Monday?s semifinals by beating Oraly in three sets 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.

Coventry will begin her singles match tomorrow at 9 a.m., with subsequent singles and UK?s doubles match to follow. Fans can check ukathletics.com for recaps of the tournament?s final day of action.
