Freshman Marcus Sundh recorded two victories Friday to advance to the quarterfinals at the Louisville Fall Invitational.
In Sundh?s first round match, he defeated Xavier?s Jeremy Miller in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Sundh followed that match up with a victory a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Butler?s James Low.
In other Wildcat action, senior Carey Rubin won his opening match against Tennessee Tech?s Tiago Gilioli 6-3, 6-0, before falling to Butler?s Brandon Gill in straight sets 6-3, 6-0.
Freshman Shane Collins, appearing in his second collegiate tournament, dropped his opening round match in straight sets to Western Kentucky?s Stan Robinovics 6-4, 7-5. Collins moves on to the consolation bracket beginning tomorrow.
Collins did pick up a victory when he teamed with Sundh in the opening round of doubles competition. The Wildcat duo defeated Shunsuke Shimizu and Juan Pablo Gomez of Tennessee Tech 9-8 (3) and advanced to tomorrow’s quarterfinals.
