UK women’s tennis senior Danielle Petrisko won two matches Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the singles qualifying tournament at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.

Petrisko, a Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., native began the day by defeating Wake Forest?s Christine Simpson in three sets 6-0, 0-6, 6-3. Petrisko then swept Lauren Isenhour of North Carolina-Wilmington in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.

Juniors Lara Maurer and Caroline Winebrenner both fell in their opening round matches.

Maurer lost to Wake Forest?s Blakeley Offutt in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (2), while Winebrenner fell in three sets to Duke?s Lauren Archer 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Petrisko picked up another victory when she teamed with Maurer to defeat Elon?s Kelly Fleck and Ewen Prelec, 9-8 (5), to advance in the doubles draw.

The Wildcat doubles team of Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk, along with the team of Liis Sober and Caroline Winebrenner will have their first matches of the tournament on Friday.
