SIMPSONVILLE, Ky.? Senior Kentucky golfer Erin Faulkner shot a 3-under-par 69 in the second round of the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup Monday as the Cats finished the opening day of the tournament in second place at the University of Louisville?s Cardinal Club.
Faulkner (Bowling Green, Ky.), who birdied 10 of the opening day?s 36 holes, is atop the tournament?s leaderboard after firing a two-round total of 143 (74-69). The Wildcats shot a 611 (311-300) to open their 2005 fall season and currently are one stroke ahead of host Louisville. Georgia State leads the tournament field with a 19-over-par 595 after posting a 3-over-par 291 in the second round.
Sophomore Elizabeth Dotson (White Bluff, Tenn.) shot a 10-over-par 154 (75-79) to finish the day tied for 11th place, while senior Ali Kicklighter (DeLand, Fla.) recovered from a first round 81 to move into a tie for 19th place at 12-over-par (81-75).
Sophomore Beth Felts (Chattanooga, Tenn.) is currently tied for 43rd place with a 162 (81-81) and junior Emily Culbertson (Crestview Hills, Ky.) is in 48th place with a 164 (87-77) to round out the field for the Wildcats.
Kentucky continues play with the final 18 holes of the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday with a shotgun start. Live stats of the second day of play are available at golfstat.com.
