The Kentucky women?s soccer team battled to a double overtime draw at Ohio State tonight, Sept. 11, finishing in a 1-1 tie. The Wildcats stay unbeaten and move to 3-0-3 on the year, while OSU goes to 2-1-2.

This was the second straight overtime contest for the Wildcats who ended in a 1-1 tie with Cincinnati on Friday and the third 1-1 tie of the season. UK also tied Michigan State in its season opener. This is the 10th straight overtime contest without a win.

The Buckeyes got on the board first when Lisa Collison connected on a direct kick outside the 18-yard line to put OSU on top 1-0 in the 40th minute.

OSU outshot UK 7-3 in the half. The Wildcats? three shots in the opening period were their lowest total in the first half this season.

The Cats knotted the score during the 64th minute when freshman Nicola Holdsworth scored inside the 18-yard box for her third goal of the year. Sarah Gaunt and Courtney McCrudden were each credited with an assist on the play which tied the score at a goal apiece.

The Buckeyes threatened late in the first overtime but junior goalkeeper Anne Ogundele made one of her many athletic plays on the night and knocked the ball away to keep the 1-1 tie in tact and send the match to a second OT.

UK outshot OSU 11-8 in the second period, but the Buckeyes led 19-16 for the game. This was the first time the Wildcats have trailed in shots this season.

The Cats managed two OT attempts, while OSU had four shots in the pair of overtimes. Ogundele finished with seven saves while playing the entire 110 minutes.

Kentucky returns to action Friday, Sept. 16, when it hosts Marshall at the UK Soccer Complex. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
