The University of Kentucky women?s soccer team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday, Sept. 11, to face No. 23-ranked Ohio State. UK battled to a tie with Cincinnati Friday night to stay unbeaten and move to 3-0-2 on the year.

The Wildcats continue to play solid defense as they held the Bearcats to just three shots in a double overtime contest. UK fired 22 shots to just three by UC.

Freshman Kate Hughes leads the team with four goals, followed by sophomore Sarah Gaunt who has scored three times in five games. Junior goalkeeper Anne Ogundele has allowed just two goals this season and has five saves giving her an 0.39 goals-against average.

The Buckeyes are currently 2-1-1 this season and will host the Wildcats in their home opener. UK defeated OSU 2-0 in their last meeting on Sept. 23, 2001, and the Cats own a 3-0 all-time record against the Buckeyes.

This only is the second match to be played between the Buckeyes and the Wildcats in Columbus and is the first game to be played at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Ohio State and Kentucky last met in Columbus in 1994 and the Scarlet and Gray suffered a 3-2 loss.

?This is going to be a great game,? said UK head coach Warren Lipka. ?They?re a solid team and this is the home opener for them. We expect a big crowd so that will make a great environment for the match.?

Game time is set for 6 p.m. Follow the action with live stats at www.ukathletics.com.
