University of Kentucky head women?s soccer coach Warren Lipka has announced the addition of Erin Witchey to the staff as an assistant coach.

?Being here for five years as a player, Erin knows and understands what we look to do here at the University of Kentucky,? said Lipka. ?I look forward for her to learn the coaching side of collegiate soccer. I think that she is not only going help us with the development of our players but also with the recruiting, travel and overall day-to-day organization of the program. I think she will be a strong asset to our team.?

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Witchey was a three-year starting defender for the Wildcats. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and scored four goals during her career.

“It’s a real honor to coach here at UK especially since I played here for five years,? said Witchey. ?Although it?s going to be a lot of hard work, I’m really excited to learn from Warren and (assistant coach) Jerrod Roh and to work with all the girls on the team.”

Witchey earned her degree from Kentucky in 2005 in business management. She is the daughter of Mark and Jan Witchey and comes from an athletic family. Her sister, Cortney, plays field hockey at Mercy Hurst, while her sister, Danielle, plays soccer for the College of Wooster.
