LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky women?s golf team continues to tune its golfing skills this summer. Wildcat golfers competed at the Women?s Western Golf Association?s (WWGA) 105th National Amateur Championship and the Kentucky Women?s State Amateur Golf Tournament.

Ali Kicklighter took to the links at the Women?s Western Golf Association?s (WWGA) 105th National Amateur Championship in West Lafayette, Ind., June 20-25. The sophomore joined 144 women?s golfers from around the world at the Boilermaker?s home course for the six-day tournament. On Monday, Kicklighter shot an 83, followed by scores of 83 and 72 on Tuesday at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The DeLand, Fla., native, finished 33rd and advanced to Wednesday?s match-play Championship Flight. On Wednesday, Kicklighter was defeated by Courtney McCracken from Seattle, Wash., 3-4, ending her tournament appearance.

Two Wildcats played at the Kentucky Women?s State Amateur Golf Tournament at the Shelbyville Country Club in Shelbyville, Ky., June 21-24. Ashland, Ky., native Katie Dixon shot a 2-over 74 to earn medalist honors in the qualifying flight. With that score, she earned the No. 1 seed for Wednesday?s match play, while junior Emily Culbertson finished tied with the second-lowest qualifying score of 75 and earned the No. 2 seed. On Wednesday, graduated senior Dixon was defeated, 4-6, by April Steenbergen and Culbertson was defeated, 2-3, by Krissy Martin.
