LEXINGTON, Ky. ? UK’s Beth Heimann was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Women?s Cross Country/Track and Field Second Team. District IV is comprised of colleges and universities in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
Heimann, a senior from Germantown, Ill., has maintained a 3.778 grade point average while majoring in education. Heimann is a four-time All-American and school record holder in the 800 meters, distance medley and 4×1,500-meter relay.
During the 2005 indoor season Heimann finished fourth in the 800 meters at SEC Championships, recording the fourth fastest time in the nation and earning All-SEC honors. She also competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800 meters where she finished 14th, earning her fourth All-America honor.
Heimann was named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America Women?s Cross Country/Track and Field Second Team and to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team All-District. She was also named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll from 2003-2004. Heimann?s academic success was recognized by UK, when she was named to the Athletics Director Honor Roll in 2004.
