LEXINGTON ? No. 11 Kentucky is expected to collect its 15th NCAA tournament bid Wednesday when the NCAA releases the field for its 64-team men?s tennis tournament.

Kentucky figures to extend its school-record streak of nine-consecutive NCAA bids to 10 on Wednesday after turning in a 20-9 record, which included wins at No. 5 Illinois and No. 10 LSU. The complete bracket will be announced live on ESPNews at approximately 4:45 p.m. EDT following the scheduled 4:30 p.m. release of the women?s bracket. ESPNews is available to Insight digital cable subscribers and also is found on DirecTV (channel 207) and DishNetwork (channel 142). ESPNews? audio signal is available via XM and SIRIUS satellite radio. The bracket will be posted on the ncaasports.com and ncaa.org web sites no later than 6 p.m. EDT.

The NCAA will post the qualifiers for the singles and doubles championships Thursday at ncaasports.com and ncaa.org no later than 6 p.m. EDT. The NCAA singles championships will begin on May 25 at Texas A&M?s Mitchell Tennis Center, and the doubles championships will kick off the following day.

Kentucky welcomed TCU, East Tennessee State and Butler for an NCAA regional a season ago. The Cats made short work of Butler in the opening round but fell to TCU in the regional final.

Cats Solidify Team Ranking

Kentucky moved up three spots in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings this week without playing a single match last week. UK?s jump from No. 14 to No. 11 increases the chances of the Cats playing host to an NCAA regional next week.

Senior Jesse Witten remains in the top five of the ITA singles and doubles rankings, which keeps him on pace to become UK?s first five-time tennis All-American. Witten remained at No. 3 in the singles rankings but dropped to No. 4 in the doubles rankings with fellow senior Tigran Martirosyan. Junior Alex Hume entered the singles rankings at No. 101 last week but dropped to No. 116 in this week?s rankings.
