ATHENS, Ga. ? Seventh-seeded Kentucky captured the doubles point and collected singles victories from Alex Hume, Tigran Martirosyan and Nolan Polley, as the Cats shut out 10th-seeded Vanderbilt, 4-0, Thursday at Georgia?s Dan Magill Tennis Complex. UK moves on to the SEC quarterfinals where the Cats will meet second-seeded Florida.

UK?s Martirosyan and Jesse Witten opened doubles play with an 8-3 win at the No. 1 position over Vanderbilt?s 19th-ranked pair of Scott Brown and Jason Pinsky. The Commodores? Evan Dufaux and Ryan Preston knocked off Kentucky?s Marcus Sundh and Nolan Polley at the No. 3 slot, but UK?s Alex Hume and Nate Emge clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 win over Vandy?s Andy Mack and Nathan Sachs

Hume added to the Kentucky tally by defeating Vanderbilt?s Jason Pinsky in straight sets. Polley extended the Wildcat lead to 3-0 by defeating Evan Dufaux, 7-5, 6-2. At the fourth singles position, Martirosyan claimed the first set against Vandy?s Preston, but Preston rallied to capture the second set. Martirosyan led 5-3 and Preston cut the lead to 5-4, but Martirosyan took the final game to put away the Commodores.

The 11th-ranked Cats improve to 20-8 on the season after defeating Vanderbilt for the second time in five days. Kentucky returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. against co-SEC champion Florida, coached by former Wildcat Andy Jackson.
