RICHMOND, Ky.- The University of Kentucky junior varsity women?s golf team moved into the lead after 36 holes at the Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky., Friday. Junior Erin Faulkner is tied for second-place at six-over-par after shooting a two-day total of 150 (76-74).
Kentucky sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 617 (312-305), eight strokes in front of its nearest competitor. Murray State is in second with a two-day total of 625 (305-320), while EKU is third with a score of 631 (309-322). Tennessee Tech?s Beth Underhill is three strokes ahead of the field after firing two-day total of 147 (71-76).
Senior Stacy Springer completed day two in fourth-place, firing a two-day total of 150 (74-77). Sophomore Emily Culbertson improved her second day score by one stroke to finish the day with a score of 155 (78-77), while sophomore Katie Johnson improved seven strokes and moved up 16 places in the standings. Johnson finished the day in 12th place, shooting a 161 (84-77). Sophomore counterpart Marissa Muir also fired one stroke better for day two, shooting a two-day total of 173 (87-86).
Senior Katie Dixon and Alanna Silvertrust are both tied for tenth after shooting two-day totals of 160. Senior Chapin Hoskins is tied for 14th after firing 82 for the second day of play. UK?s Laura Clemmons has withdrawn from the competition.
The third and final round begins with a shotgun start Saturday at 9 a.m.
