KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ? University of Kentucky senior Gennessa Guzman tied the Kentucky school record in the women?s hammer throw, with a toss of 182-05 at the Gatorade Classic in Knoxville, Tenn., Friday. Guzman?s toss not only tied the UK school record, but was also a regional qualifying and personal-best mark.

In the conference scoring clash, the Big Ten took a commanding 54.50 to 23.50 day-one lead over the Southeastern Conference in the league vs. league scored competition.

Sophomore Andy Fryman aided the SEC, as he smashed his previous personal-best by over ten feet in the men?s hammer throw with a heave of 180-01. Senior Nicole Allyn competed in the women?s hammer throw for the Cats, recording a season-best toss of 172-01.

In the women?s javelin throw freshman Lauren Abney finished fourth with a season-best throw of 122-01. Junior Kathleen Biondi also competed well, finishing in seventh with a toss of 116-02.

Saturday?s festivities begin with the women?s long jump at 1:30 p.m. and will conclude with the men?s 4×400-meter relay scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. EST.
