RICHMOND, Ky.- The University of Kentucky junior varsity women?s golf team completed day one play at the Colonel Classic in Richmond, Ky., Thursday. The squad is currently in third-place with a first round total of 312 behind Murray State (305) and host EKU (309).

UK senior Stacy Springer leads the team after firing a season-low score of 74 for day one. Springer is in fourth-place behind Tennessee Tech?s Beth Underhill, who is atop the leaderboard after shooting 71 for the first 18 holes.

Junior Erin Faulkner is tied for fifth after firing 76 for day one, while sophomore Emily Culbertson shot 78 to end the first day tied for ninth. Sophomores Katie Johnson and Marissa Muir recorded first round scores of 84 and 87, respectively.

Kentucky?s individual golfers faired well for the first 18 holes, led by senior Katie Dixon?s first round 79. Dixon is tied for 12th, while sophomore Alanna Silvertrust and senior Chapin Hoskins are tied for 18th after firing scores of 81. Junior Laura Clemmons also competed for UK, rounding out the individual four.

Play continues Friday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
