The University of Kentucky men?s golf team is tied for fourth after the first day of play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in Charleston, S.C.
Augusta State, the nation’s No. 12 ranked team, blistered the course in the first round with a 276 team total and led second place Auburn by 12 strokes. Augusta’s Scott Jamieson was tied for first place with Chan Song of Georgia Tech in the individual standings after both golfers carded identical scores of 66.
The Wildcats shot a total of 290 to tie for fourth with Georgia Tech. South Carolina and Auburn are knotted at 288 to tie for second place overall, while North Carolina State is sixth with a total of 291.
Matt Kohn leads the Cats and is tied for sixth overall with a score of 69. John Holmes also ranks in the top 10 with an eighth-place score of 71. Mark Blakefield is tied for 17th overall with a first-round score of 72, while Cale Barr and Brandon Waldrop shot rounds of 79 and 80, respectively, to round out the scoring for Kentucky.
