ATHENS, Ga. ? Kentucky?s women?s golf team travels to Athens, Ga., Mar. 25-27 for the 33rd annual Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The tournament is the final regular season match-up for the Cats before the SEC Championships.
Joining the Wildcats in the 18-team field are nine SEC foes. The field includes Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, East Carolina, Florida State, Furman, Georgia, Kent State, LSU, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulane and Wake Forest.
The tournament records for the Liz Murphy Classic are top-notch. In 2004 Duke?s Brittany Lang took the individual tournament title firing a three-day total of 207 (66-73-68). Lang?s first round 66 holds as the record for the tournament individual low-round. Georgia captured the team title in that same year on their home course shooting 865 (292-288-285) for the tournament. The Lady Bulldogs also claimed to the lowest team tournament total from 1999, with a 4-under-par score of 872 (293-291-288). Duke shot a 10-under-par (282) round in 2000 for the lowest team round on record.
The Cats take to the course with tee times begin at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with a shotgun start for Sunday?s final round also beginning at 9 a.m. Kentucky will tee off on tee #1 of the par 72, 6,104 yard course with Tulane and Tennessee starting at 9:40 a.m.
