The Kentucky women?s basketball team will play host to the Chattanooga Lady Mocs Sunday, March 20 at 2 p.m. EST in Memorial Coliseum in the second round of the 2005 Sportsview.tv Women’s National Invitation Tournament. The Cats defeated Eastern Michigan 79-68 in their opening round game while Chattanooga took a 50-40 win over Villanova in its first game.
The Wildcats (16-15) are 4-0 all-time vs. Chattanooga and are 7-1 vs. UTC?s Southern Conference. The last time the teams met was on Jan. 22, 1981 and UK won 88-64 in Lexington.
The Lady Mocs are 25-4 overall and finished with an impressive 19-1 record in the Southern Conference this season. UTC claimed the regular season title with the second best record in conference history, second only to its own 20-0 record in 2004. The Lady Mocs were upset 55-50 by East Tennessee State in the second round of the SoCon Tournament and were not awarded an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament. Juniors Katasha Brown, Tiffani Roberson and Nicole Mattison were named to the All-Conference team while freshmen Laura Hall and Brooke Hand were both named to the league?s All-Freshman Team. Brown leads the team in scoring with 12.4 points per game. UTC Coach Wes Moore, a 1986 graduate of Tennessee, was voted SoCon Coach of the Year by his peers for the third time.

The main Memorial Coliseum ticket office will be open Saturday, March 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST and prior to the game on Sunday, March 20, beginning at noon. Ticket prices are: $7 for all reserved seats regardless of age. General admission tickets are $7 adults/$4 for UK students, senior citizens and children ages 18 and under.
