LEXINGTON ? Kentucky dropped a 12-5 decision to Morehead State on Thursday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium as the Wildcats had their eight-game win streak snapped.

Kentucky takes to the road immediately and will be back in action Friday night at Bradenton, Fla., where it faces Northern Iowa at 8 p.m. ET in the first of five games in the Sunshine State. The Wildcats will also face Illinois State, Rhode Island (twice) and Miami (Ohio).

Thursday, Kentucky trotted five freshmen pitchers to the mound, holding their normal starters for the weekend. Morehead countered with staff ace Adrian Duran, who went 7 1/3 innings and earned the win to improve to 3-1.

The Eagles became the first team this year to put runs on the board before Kentucky in a game when they posted three in the second inning. The Wildcats responded with a single run in the home half of the inning only to see the Morehead lead stretch to 5-1 in the third.

In the fourth, the Eagles added two more runs before tacking on three in the top of the seventh for an insurmountable 10-1 lead. Kentucky was able to tally four runs in the final four innings, but could rally all the way back.

Bryan Engram was the offensive star for Morehead, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored. Eight of the Eagles starters registered a hit as the team finished with 15.

Kentucky got two hits from both Antone DeJesus and Billy Grace, but only managed two hits from the rest of the line up.

The Wildcats are expected to send Louisville native Scott Green to the mound on Friday against Northern Iowa.
