LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky baseball team wraps up its eight-game homestand Thursday afternoon when it hosts Morehead State at 1 p.m. at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, but was pushed back a day due to weather concerns.

The Wildcats have won eight straight overall and are off the their best start since the 2000 season at 9-1.Last weekend, Kentucky completed its second consecutive series sweep by taking three games from Toledo. Morehead enters the game 4-7 overall, but beat Brescia 14-0 last time out.

?We?ve had a good stretch here at home,? said Kentucky head coach John Cohen, whose team has won eight straight at home dating back to last year. ?We have a lot of young players and they?ve had a chance to see a lot of action and gain valuable experience.?

During the Wildcats eight-game win streak, the offense has scored 10 runs or more six times. It has been led by current SEC Player of the Week Billy Grace, who has hit .419 with 11 runs scored and 11 RBI during that stretch.

?I like the way our offense has been producing, but I don?t think we?ve scratched the surface of how good we can be,? Cohen said. ?We?ve been great at getting runners on base, which is the hardest part, but we?ve had trouble driving them home some of the time.?

On the mound, Kentucky is getting tremendous starting pitching. Wildcat starters are a combined 5-0 with a 1.69 earned-run average this season.

?Our pitching staff has done a great job so far,? Cohen said. ?(Pitching) coach (Gary) Henderson has done a tremendous job with a very young staff and has brought them along nicely.?

Kentucky leads the all-time series 38-23 and won last year?s meeting, 8-0.
