LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky men?s 4×400-meter relay team ran the fastest mark of the season with a time of 3:09.09 in Ames, Iowa Saturday. Seven UK athletes competed in last chance meets for Kentucky in South Bend, Ind., and Ames. The Cyclones hosted the NCAA Track and Field Qualifying Meet in Lied Recreation Center, while the Fighting Irish hosted the Alex Wilson Invitational.

UK?s 4×400-meter relay team improved on its previous NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 3:09.98 from the SEC Championships a week ago. The foursome was comprised of freshmen Justin Harrison, Nathan Browning, Dan Hutson and junior Dedrick Tillerson.

Tillerson and Harrison also already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400 meters, Tillerson with a mark of 47.24 and Harrison in a time of 46:72.

Freshman Michael Mason finished first in the high jump at the Alex Wilson Invitational with a jump of 7-00 ?. That mark was just short of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 7-01 ?, however Mason already provisionally qualified last weekend at the SEC Championships with a leap of 7-02 ?.

Sophomore Andy Fryman finished third in South Bend with a toss of 57-05 ?. Fryman?s toss was short of the NCAA provisional mark, though Fryman already provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a heave of 58-10 ? at that at the SEC Championships.

Sophomore Georganne Way competed in the women?s 800-meter run for UK at the Alex Wilson Invitational, finishing in a season-best time of 2:10.72. The mark places Way in the UK record books with the seventh fastest time in UK history, but was just shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.

The two meets gave student-athletes a final opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., March 11-12.
