LEXINGTON, Ky. ? The University of Kentucky women?s golf team opens the spring season at the Papa John?s Collegiate Golf Tournament in Miami Lakes, Fla. Feb. 20-22. The University of Miami plays host to an eleven-team field at Don Shula?s Golf Resort.
Tournament play on the 6,190 yard, par 72 course will begin with a shotgun start on Sun., Feb. 20 at 12:30 p.m. Play will continue Monday with an 8 a.m. start and Tuesday?s final day of play will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Schools joining Kentucky and Miami in the tournament are Alabama, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Louisville, Mississippi State, North Carolina State, UNC Wilmington, South Florida, Southern Mississippi and Virginia.
The Cats travel squad for the spring opener includes Ali Kicklighter, Beth Felts, Marissa Muir, Katie Dixon and Elizabeth Dotson. Crestview Hills, Ky., native, Emily Culbertson will not be playing due to a knee injury.
Freshman Beth Felts led the Cats throughout the fall season and looks to continue her success this weekend. Felts recorded UK?s low individual score in her freshman debut at the College of Charleston Cougar Classic and shot 76 and 77 rounds at the UK Fall Invitational.
