No. 7 Kentucky returns to the Boone Tennis Center for its first home match in nearly four weeks Saturday when the Cats play host to No. 41 Purdue. The match is set for 12 p.m. EST in Lexington.
Kentucky (7-3) is coming off of a weekend split last weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. No. 9 North Carolina dealt the Cats a 7-0 defeat last Saturday before Kentucky rebounded with a 7-0 win over Minnesota. Saturday?s match is the second of a five-match stretch against Big Ten conference opponents. UK will meet Indiana on Sunday in Lexington before traveling to Ohio State and Michigan next weekend.
The Cats and Boilermakers last met a season ago in West Lafayette, as UK held on for a 4-3 win. Kentucky owns a 16-1 series advantage against the Boilermakers. Purdue (2-3) is coached by Mat Iandolo, who is assisted by Chris Karges-Iandolo, a UK women?s tennis letter winner from 1986-89. PU comes to Lexington on the heels of a 4-3 loss to Wake Forest earlier this week. Purdue features the nation?s 71st-ranked singles player, Hala Sufi.
