LEXINGTON, Ky.?The Kentucky Gymnastics squad steps out of conference play Friday as it hosts Ball State, George Washington and Ohio State in a quad meet at Memorial Coliseum. Meet time is set for 7:30 p.m. and live stats will be available on ukathletics.com.
Friday?s meet is ?Father/Daughter Night? and the first 250 father/daughter pairs receive free team photos. Trading cards of the junior class also will be given out to the first 300 fans through the doors.
The Wildcats (1-3) are coming off of a narrow 194.100-194.000 road loss to Auburn last Friday night. Junior Alabama native Lucy Burgin finished third in the first all-around performance of her collegiate career with a 38.775 on the four events, while sophomore Rachel Riley finished second with a 38.925 mark. The George Washington Colonels enter Friday?s meet with a 5-3 record, having claimed third place at the George Washington Invitational last weekend. The Colonels have not tallied a team score higher than 191.625 this season, and are being led by junior all-arounder Erin Aiken who averages a 37.650 this season on the four events. George Washington?s leading event is the vault, where it scored an event-high 48.275 last weekend.
The Ball State Cardinals come to Lexington with a 2-7 record on the season after falling 194.775- 190.225 to Kent State on Friday. This weekend?s quad meet marks the second of a four-game road trip for Ball State. The Cardinals? patented event is the floor exercise, where they scored a 49.050 last weekend en route to the floor title. Senior Kelli Davis leads the team on the all-around, notching a career-high 38.975 last season.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off of a season-high 194.775 score this past weekend and enter the quad meet with a 2-4 record. Junior Kaylin Schlecht posted a career-high 9.900 on bars to finish first in tri-meet between the Buckeyes, Oklahoma and Illinois State last Saturday.
