Kentucky junior Carey Rubin fell just shy of picking up his first title as a Wildcat Sunday at the Rice Indoor Invitational in Houston, Texas.

Rubin, a Michigan transfer from Huber Heights, Ohio, suffered a 7-5, 6-3 loss in the ?B? singles flight final to Rice?s Hooney Shin.

Baylor?s Jon Reckewey dealt UK freshman Nolan Polley a 7-6, 6-0 defeat in the consolation final.

The Cats return to action on Jan. 29 at the International Tennis Championships in Delray Beach, Fla.
