LEXINGTON ? Unbeaten in its last five, the Kentucky men?s soccer team has jumped to No. 19 in the latest NSCAA/adidas Top 25, which was released Tuesday.
The Wildcats are 4-0-1 in their past five matches that includes wins over No. 17 UAB, Cincinnati and a tie at Akron. Along with the move into the top 25, Kentucky has climbed to a season best No. 3 in the Great Lakes Region.
In the region, the Wildcats trail Notre Dame and Indiana. Regional rankings are critical for teams hoping to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and possibly host early round games.
On Monday, Kentucky was listed among the top 25 teams in the nation by College Soccer News and Soccer Times which had them 22nd and 23rd, respectively.
The Wildcats return to action Sunday at 11 a.m. at Kalamazoo, Mich., in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. Kentucky earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament after winning the regular-season championship. The winner of the Western Michigan-Marshall game meets the Wildcats in the semifinal.
