SANDESTIN, Fla. ?The University of Kentucky women?s golf team ended tournament play in 14th at the ACC/SEC Challenge. A single-round tournament record of 62 from Elizabeth Janangelo helped Duke University defeat Auburn by one stroke at the Chrysler ACC/SEC Challenge at The Raven golf course in Sandestin, Fla.
The Cats are led by junior Ali Kicklighter who finished tied for 40th shooting 227 (72-75-80).
Finishing second for the Cats was freshman Beth Felts, shooting a team low third round 74 to end the tournament T-45. Elizabeth Dotson recorded a second round 84, with Emily Culbertson improving from day two, shooting 77. Erin Faulkner made a very impressive third round rebound, firing a 75, nine shots better than her second round score.
Going into Sunday’s final round, the Tigers held a commanding 15-stroke lead over the Blue Devils after a record-setting 271 during the third round. Duke responded on Sunday with a 278 during the final 18 holes and Auburn shot its highest loop of the tournament, 294, to give the Blue Devils the team title.
Taking individual medalist honors was the Tigers’ Diana Ramage as she posted a three-day 206 (70-64-72). Janagelo tied Mississippi State’s Beth Irvin for second at 210. The Cats have a break in the action and then begin spring play Feb. 2 in Miami Lakes, Fla. at the University of Miami Papa Johns Golf Tournament.
