LEXINGTON ? Freshmen Chris Boggs and Ray Geyer have been named the Kentucky Rifle Co-Shooters of the Week for their efforts this past weekend against Ole Miss and Memphis.
It is the second time this year each has been named the Shooter of the Week by coach Harry Mullins.
Boggs, a Shelbyville, Ky., native, fired a team-high 582 in air rifle against the Rebels before matching the score the next day against the Tigers. For the season, Boggs is second on the team with a smallbore average of 580 and is the only Wildcat to fire register three scores in the 580s.
Meanwhile, Geyer, a Georgetown, Ky., native, shot a 583 smallbore score against Ole Miss to lead Kentucky to its highest smallbore total of the season. He was also solid in air rifle with back-to-back 577s.
Geyer has anchored the team so far this year with a 577.8 smallbore average and a 582.3 air rifle average, both team highs.
Kentucky returns to action on Nov. 7 when it hosts in-state rival Murray State.
