LEXINGTON ? Freshman Ray Geyer was named the Kentucky Rifle Shooter of the Match for the home opener against Ohio State.
Geyer, a Georgetown, Ky., native, fired team high scores for the day in both smallbore and air rifle to earn the honor from coach Harry Mullins. It is the second straight week a freshman has been tabbed the Shooter of the Match.
Geyer shot a 588 smallbore score which bested All-American Vicki Goss by one point for the team high. He followed that up with a 587 which tied Goss for the team high in air rifle.
Geyer and Kentucky return to action this Saturday when it faces Great American Rifle Conference opponent Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. The Wildcats will remain in Oxford to take on fellow GARC member Memphis on Saturday.
