LEXINGTON ? The Kentucky soccer team will honor its eight seniors Sunday prior to taking the field against Alabama A&M in a 2:30 contest at the UK Soccer Complex.

Jeremy Groves, Chris Lefferts, Jamal Shteiwi, Dan Ferriter, Olli Lehtimaki, Jonathan Brunet, J.R. Kenny and Jarret Christie will each be recognized for their contribution to the continuous success of the Wildcat program.

In the time since this class began, Kentucky has 44-26-5 overall record for a .620 winning percentage, which is the highest for any four-year span in school history. They are just six wins shy of the school record with four regular-season games left before the conference and NCAA tournaments.

The group of seniors owns two Mid-America Conference championships and made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament in its time at Kentucky.

?You know, this has been a great group,? said Kentucky coach Ian Collins. ?Obviously they have accomplished a lot. Hopefully, they?ll be able to come out and have a good game in one of their last times to play at home. I hope the fans come out to honor what they?ve done these past four years.?

Kentucky got back to its winning ways on Friday with a 5-1 rout of Bowling Green. Shteiwi netted his first career hat trick to pace the Wildcats. Facing Alabama A&M, the Wildcats will square off with an style of play they are not used to seeing.

?This is a different type of team that we don?t see very often,? said Collins. ?They are very athletic at every position and will put three or four people up front to attack. Our guys will have to adjust to that.?

The teams have met four times with Alabama A&M winning all four. The first three Bulldog victories came from 1991-93 when Kentucky?s program was in its infancy. The last of the four was two years ago, a 3-2 overtime decision in Lexington.
