University of Kentucky?s women?s golf team will begin play against 17 teams at the UT Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. The Cats tee off at 9:10 a.m. Friday morning and will compete against four SEC schools including Alabama, Arkansas, LSU and Tennessee. Joining the field in Knoxville is the visiting Swedish Junior National Team.

Competing this weekend for the Cats are freshmen Beth Felts and Elizabeth Dotson, junior Ali Kicklighter and Crestview Hills, Ky. native, Emily Culbertson. Playing as an individual for UK is sophomore Alanna Silvertrust.

The tournament is a three day, 54-hole event hosted by the University of Tennessee at the Cherokee Country Club. The course the Cats will face this weekend is 5,932 yards, par 71. Ohio State claimed the 2003 tournament and individual champion titles with Allison Hanna taking the individual title shooting 217 for the tournament.
