Kentucky junior Alex Hume and freshman Nolan Polley won their first-round matches to advance to the round of 64 at the ITA All-American Pre-Qualies in Chattanooga, Tenn. Hume defeated Northwestern?s Willy Lock by a 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 count and will meet Tennessee Tech?s Shunsuke Shiunizu Saturday afternoon. Polley, a former two-time KHSAA boys? singles champion from Lexington?s Dunbar H.S., rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over Georgia Tech?s Scott Blackmon. Polley will take on Florida?s Stefan Tell in Saturday?s round of 64. Senior Matt Emery and freshman Marcus Sundh were eliminated from the tournament in the round of 128.
