After opening conference play with a disappointing 0-2 record, the Kentucky volleyball team hits the road to face South Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. in Columbia and Tennessee on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Knoxville.

Kentucky (9-4, 0-2 Southeastern Conference) lost to both Alabama and Auburn last weekend despite out-hitting both teams. The Cats hit a season-best .327 in their four-game loss to the Tigers on Sunday.

Senior outside hitter Sarah Spinner is averaging 3.79 kills per game and leads the team with 13 service aces this season. Spinner had 21 kills in the loss to Auburn, while hitting a career-best .633 in the match. Junior Danielle Wallace has a team-best 4.51 kills per game average this season.

Setter Leigh Marcum, who ranks seventh on UK?s all-time assists chart, is averaging 12.77 assists per game and freshman setter Ki Eveland is averaging nearly 11 assists per game as part of a new two-setter rotation in the Kentucky offense. Defensively, Jenni Casper is the Cats? top back-row player, providing 4.56 digs per game.

South Carolina leads the all-time series with Kentucky, 16-13, and the Gamecocks are winners of the last eight matches in the series. The Wildcats lead the all-time series with Tennessee, 35-19, and the two teams split last year?s series. Sunday?s match will mark a family reunion of sorts for UK freshman defensive specialist Katie Knytych. Her sister Julie is the starting setter for the Volunteers.
