LEXINGTON ? Kentucky senior Jamal Shteiwi was named to the Soccer America National Team of the Week, it was announced Wednesday.

It is the second Team of the Week honor Shteiwi has received this week as he was named to the College Soccer News team on Monday. He was also named the Mid-America Conference Player of the Week on Monday.

Last week, Shteiwi led Kentucky to a 3-0 record with wins over Louisville, UNC-Asheville and Western Michigan.

Against the Cardinals, he assisted on the game-winning goal before tallying a goal as well. He scored the Wildcats first goal in a 3-1 win over the Bulldogs on Friday and notched two more scores against the Broncos on Sunday.

He had four goals and an assist during the week and has posted a goal or assist in six straight games dating back to last year. The streak is tied for the second longest in school history.

Shteiwi and Kentucky return to action Friday when they host Georgia Southern in the UK Invitational at 7:30 p.m. Louisville and Winthrop will get the action started at 5 p.m.
