There was good news on the injury front on Tuesday as defensive end Sweet Pea Burns and cornerbacks Earven Flowers and Warren Wilson returned to practice.
Burns had been out since Aug. 19 because of arthroscopic knee surgery. Flowers had been out of action because of a quadriceps injury and Wilson had missed time because of a dislocated toe.
?I was full go the whole time,? a happy Flowers reported following practice. ?I feel fine, but I can tell I?m a little rusty. I?ll be able to play on Sunday if I can get my conditioning.?
?I got a couple of snaps in today, not as much as I?d like,? Burns said. ?The coaches want to take their time and not overdo it. My knee is kind of stiff, but not as much as yesterday (Monday). I expect to play but how many snaps will be up to the coaches.?
?It was sore, but I made it through the whole practice,? Wilson said. ?I feel good and I?ll be more adjusted by Sunday.?
Coach Rich Brooks said that none of the three players are expected to play a full game because they will not be in peak cardiovascular condition, but having them available will provide depth in the playing rotation. Brooks also noted that, barring additional injuries, linebacker Dustin Williams (hamstring) is the only player who began fall practice that will not be available for the season opener. The Wildcats take on Louisville on Sun. Sept. 5 at 3:30 p.m. at Papa John?s Cardinal Stadium.
