Kentucky senior Rahim Esmail and junior Jesse Witten earned their first career selections to the NCAA Doubles Championships Thursday. The pair will begin doubles competition on May 26 at the University of Tulsa following the NCAA Team Championships. Witten also tallied his third NCAA singles selection in as many years and also will begin the singles competition on May 26.
Esmail, a native of Coquitlam, B.C., and Witten, a Naples, Fla., native, comprise the ITA?s 14th-ranked doubles tandem and tallied a 15-6 overall record and 9-2 conference showing. Witten, on his way to his third-consecutive All-America selection, enters NCAA post-season play as the ITA?s sixth-ranked men?s singles player. He posted a 32-9 overall singles record and holds a 21-4 dual-match record at the No. 1 singles slot. Witten won nine of 11 matches in conference play and was named a first-team All-SEC recipient for the third-consecutive season.
