WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ? After a runner-up finish in the Johnny Owens Invitational last weekend, the Kentucky men?s golf team will compete in the Boilermaker Invitational hosted by Purdue University, April 10-11. The Boilermaker Invitational will feature 18 teams, including nine teams who are ranked in the top-50 of the latest GolfStat rankings, and four who are ranked in the top-25.

?The Boilermaker Invitational is a real good tournament,? Coach Brian Craig said. ?It should be a good test for us to see where we are in preparation for regionals.?

UK is ranked No. 25 in the latest rankings. No. 7 Oklahoma State, No. 13 TCU and No. 19 Oklahoma will compete in the Boilermaker Invitational as well.

Kentucky?s John Holmes, who has seven top-10 individual finishes this year, is ranked No. 9 in the latest GolfWeek.com standings. Holmes is one of five top-25 golfers who compete in the Boilermaker Invitational. The others include No. 10 Casey Wittenberg (Oklahoma State) No. 11 Jeff Overton (Indiana), No. 18 Anthony Kim (Oklahoma) and No. 22 Adam Meyer (Texas Christian).

The 54-hole tournament will tee off Saturday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. for the first 36 holes. The final round is scheduled for Sunday morning beginning at 8 a.m., as well. Saturdays forecast is calling for temperatures in the mid-50s with a few rain showers. Kentucky is accustomed to playing in adverse weather conditions. Temperatures were in the mid-30s with rain and gusting winds on the first day of the Johnny Owens Invitational.

The Wildcats will compete in the SEC Championships April 16-18 in Sea Island, Ga.
