Knoxville, Tenn. ? The Kentucky track and field had a successful day Friday at the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tenn., bringing home nine top-10 finishes along with eight regional qualifying standards. Andy Fryman led the way with a pair of second-place performances in the shot put and discus competitions.

Fryman was an inch away from a first-place finish in the discus with his launch of 168-10.00, while teammate Tony Tzouanakis took third in the event with a toss of 164-03.00. Fryman also landed in second in the shot put, registering a mark of 55-07.00.

The Kentucky men did not only leave their mark on the field events; all four UK student-athletes in the men?s 800 meters were impressive as well, coming in the top 20 Friday while meeting regional standards. Kris Landers led the way with his ninth-place time of 1:49.57, and Jean Balan followed with a close 1:49.78 11th-place time. Paul Ciurlys and Nick Devenport came in 15th and 17th places, respectively, with times of 1:50.19 and 1:50.48.

Beth Heimann represented the 800 meters on the women?s side, coming in fifth with a regional qualifying time of 2:08.52. Olubusola Adeagbo had a successful day, registering a season-best 1:00.99 in the 400-meter hurdles. Also on the women?s side, Ildiko Varga and Kristen Mowrey came in third and eighth in the discus and high jump competitions. Varga met a regional mark with her throw of 170-11.00 in the event, while Mowrey cleared 5-06.00 in the high jump.

Chris Millisor brought home the Cats? last top-10 finish with his ninth-place performance in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 15:21.59.

The Cats wrap up competition tomorrow at the Relays, while David Freeman, Thomas Morgan and Hunter Spencer will compete in the 1,500 meters at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.
