The Kentucky women?s golf team used two of its best rounds of golf of the year to take a four-shot lead after two rounds at the Big River Telephone Classic in Murray, Ky. The Cats shot a 303 in the second round of the 54-hole tournament to overtake the lead from host Murray State going into the final 18 holes Tuesday.

Eva Gessner also used her best round of golf of 2003-04 to finish the day in a tie for first place with a six-over 150 at the par-72 Miller Golf Course. All five participants for UK came in the top 15 after 36 holes of golf, as Ali Kicklighter came in one shot behind Gessner with a third-place score of 151. Marissa Muir and Emily Culbertson ended the day?s competition in ties for fifth and 10th-places, respectively, while Katie Dixon rounded out the Cats? lineup with a 15th-place score of 161.

MSU?s Cuyler Hedley is tied for first with Gessner after Monday?s 36 holes, while UK and the Racers are battling for the top spot in the team standings. Third-place East Tennessee State is currently 28 shots behind the Cats in the 13-team tournament.
