The 18th-ranked Kentucky women?s tennis team (15-8, 6-3) plays host to its final home match of the season Sunday when the Cats meet 28th-ranked Tennessee (12-11, 6-3). The action begins at 12 p.m. EDT at UK?s Boone Tennis Complex.
The Cats and Lady Vols each are looking to rebound after losses to Georgia and Vanderbilt, respectively. UK freshman Sarah Foster provided a bright spot in the Cats? 6-1 loss to UGA, upsetting 12th-ranked Shadisha Robinson by a 7-5, 6-2 count. Foster now has won six-consecutive matches and nine of her last 10.
The Lady Vols feature All-American Tammy Encina, the ITA?s 27th-ranked student-athlete, and 85th-ranked Sabita Maharaj. Encina teams with Melissa Schaub to form the ITA?s 39th-ranked doubles pair. The Cats counter with No. 23 Aibika Kalsarieva and Foster at No. 96, who solidify the nation?s 16th-ranked doubles tandem.
Sunday marks ?UK Student Day? at the Boone Tennis Complex. All students in attendance will receive free hot dogs, chips and soft drinks and will be able to participate in prize giveaways.
