The 20th-ranked University of Kentucky women?s tennis team (10-5, 2-0) returns to UK?s Boone Tennis Center Friday for a 4 p.m. EST match against No. 46 South Carolina (6-2, 2-0), marking the Cats? first match in Lexington in three weeks.
The Cats? two-weekend road stint has been productive, as Kentucky has posted a 3-1 record and added two victories over ranked opponents. Junior Aibika Kalsarieva has risen from No. 23 to No. 19 in the ITA women?s singles rankings, and Kalsarieva and partner Sarah Foster entered the ITA women?s doubles rankings at No. 12 after tallying several impressive victories in fall and dual-match play.
Kentucky began conference play last weekend with victories at Mississippi State and Ole Miss, while South Carolina scored home wins over Arkansas and LSU. The Gamecocks feature the ITA?s 85th-ranked singles player in Danielle Wiggins.
